Support

Orma is a private way to share your location with family. Everything you share is end-to-end encrypted, so only your circle can see it.

Need help? Email support@ormacircle.com, use the contact form, or tap Settings › Send feedback in the app, which adds your app version.

Getting started

How do I add someone to my circle?

Tap Invite someone and send them the link. When they open it on their iPhone and join, you'll see each other on the map. The link holds your circle's key, so only send it to people you want in the circle. Each link works once and expires after 7 days.

Can I have more than one circle?

Yes. Use Create another circle for another group, like friends or a team, and Switch circle to move between them.

Sharing your location

Why does Orma ask for "Always" location?

So your circle still sees where you are, and gets arrival alerts, when Orma is closed. You can choose "While Using" instead, but your location only updates while the app is open. Change it any time in iPhone Settings › Orma › Location.

How do I stop sharing, or share for a while?

Use Share for a set time to stop automatically, or Stop sharing to stop now. Your circle sees that you stopped sharing.

Does Orma drain my battery?

Orma turns location updates off while your phone is still, and turns them back on when you move.

Places and alerts

How do I get an alert when someone gets home?

Open Places, add a place like home or school, and choose Alert on arrival, Alert on leaving, or both. You can pick whose arrivals you hear about and set the alert radius.

I'm not getting alerts.

Check that notifications are on for Orma in iPhone Settings › Notifications, and that the person shares their location with "Always" allowed. SOS alerts are time-sensitive, so they still come through when Focus is on.

SOS

What does SOS do?

Hold the SOS button for 2 seconds. Everyone in your circles gets an alert with your location, and your location stays shared until you slide to say you're fine.

Does SOS call emergency services?

No. Orma alerts your circle, not 911, 999 or 112. To reach emergency services from your iPhone, also turn on Emergency SOS in iPhone Settings › Emergency SOS.

Phones and privacy

I got a new iPhone. How do I get my circles back?

Sign in on the new phone. Your old phone asks "Is this your new phone?". Check that the codes on both phones match, then approve on the old phone and tap "Codes match" on the new one. If you don't have your old phone, ask someone in your circle for a new invite link and paste it in.

Someone added a new phone. Should I worry?

Orma tells everyone in a circle when a new phone joins. If it's yours, that's expected. If a phone you don't recognise appears on your account, tap "It's not mine" to remove it.

Can the people who make Orma see my location?

No. Your location is encrypted on your iPhone with a key only your circle's phones hold. See the privacy policy for exactly what our servers can and can't see.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings › Delete account. This removes you from every circle and permanently deletes your account, phones and shared locations. It can't be undone.
